Overview

A conference call joins you and two (or more) other people into one conversation. The most common use is simple: you’re on a call, and you want to bring in a colleague, or dial a customer and a supplier together.

Starting a conference

  1. Place or answer your first call.
  2. Press the Conference soft key. The first call is placed on hold.
  3. Dial the second person’s number and press the Send soft key.
  4. When they answer, press Conference again. All three of you are now in the call together.

Managing the conference

  • Split: press the Split soft key to break the conference into two separate held calls, so you can speak to each person privately.
  • Manage: press the Manage soft key, highlight a person, and you can mute them (Far Mute), hold them (Far Hold), or Remove them from the call.
  • End: press the End Call soft key to finish the conference for everyone.
If you hang up, the conference normally ends for everyone. Use Split first if you want to drop out but let the other two keep talking as separate calls you can rejoin.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add more than two other people? The everyday flow above covers three-way calls, which is what most people need. Newer models support larger local conferences: repeat the Conference steps to add another person. For regular meetings with several attendees, ask us about a dedicated conference solution. One of the callers is very quiet or has background noise. Can I do anything? Yes. Use Manage and mute the noisy participant (Far Mute) while they’re not speaking. Can I conference in a mobile number? Yes. Any number you can dial, you can conference: extensions, landlines, and mobiles.
