Overview
The keys beside (or on) your screen can be set up as busy lamp keys, one key per colleague. Pear usually configures these for you. Each key is three things at once:- A speed dial: press it to call that person.
- A busy light: the key’s colour shows whether they’re on the phone right now.
- A shortcut: pick up their ringing calls, or transfer callers to them in one press.
Reading the lights
On button phones (T46/T54) the light is an LED on the key itself. On touch screens (T48/T57) the keys appear on screen with the same colours, down either side of the display. Tap the More key for extra pages on the T48, or swipe on the T57.
Calling a colleague
Press (or tap) their key while your phone is idle. That’s it: the phone dials them immediately.Picking up a colleague’s ringing call
Phone ringing at an empty desk? If you have a key for that person:- Wait for their key to flash red (fast).
- Press (or tap) the key.
- The call is pulled across to your phone. Answer it as normal.
Transferring with one press
While you’re on a call, press (or tap) a colleague’s key to transfer the caller to them.Depending on how your system is set up, this either sends the caller straight through (blind transfer) or lets you announce them first. Try it once to see which way your phones behave, or check Transferring Calls for the manual method, which always lets you choose.
