Overview

When you can’t take a call, callers can leave you a voicemail. Your phone tells you the moment a message arrives: the light at the top of the phone flashes red slowly, and an envelope icon appears in the status bar.

Checking your messages

  1. Press the Message key (the envelope icon).
  2. The phone dials your voicemail box.
  3. Enter your voicemail PIN if asked, then follow the voice prompts. Press 1 to listen to new messages.
You can also dial *97 from your phone to reach your own mailbox. If you’re at a colleague’s desk, dial *98. It asks which mailbox you want, so you can check yours from any phone.

Recording your greeting

Your greeting is what callers hear before leaving a message. To record or change it:
  1. Press the Message key and sign in to your mailbox.
  2. From the main menu, press 0 for mailbox options.
  3. Choose the greeting you want to record: your unavailable greeting (used when you don’t answer) or your busy greeting (used when you’re on the phone).
  4. Follow the prompts to record, review, and save it.
Keep it short and helpful: your name, that you can’t take the call, and when they can expect to hear back. “Hi, you’ve reached Sam at Pear Plumbing. Sorry I missed you. Leave your name and number and I’ll call you back today.”

Frequently asked questions

The message light is flashing but there are no new messages. An old message may be sitting in the mailbox unheard on another device, or a fax/notification may be waiting. Sign in with the Message key and check. If the light still won’t clear, contact support. I’ve forgotten my voicemail PIN. No problem. Just contact support and we’ll reset it for you. When do callers get sent to my voicemail? When you don’t answer in time, when you’re on the phone (if call waiting is off), when you press Reject, or when Do Not Disturb is on. Your exact routing depends on your system setup. Can I get my voicemails somewhere other than the phone? Many Pear systems can email you a copy of each message. Ask us to switch voicemail-to-email on for you through contact support.
