Overview

Number Blocking lets you stop specific phone numbers from calling your business. When a blocked number calls in, the call is rejected before it reaches any extension or queue. Use this to stop persistent spam callers, telemarketers, or any number you never want to hear from again.

How to block a number

  1. Go to Number Blocking in the left menu.
  2. In the Add Number to Block section, enter the phone number in the Phone Number field.
  3. Optionally add a note in the Description field, e.g. Spam caller or Wrong number.
  4. Click Add to Block List.
The number will appear in the Blocked Numbers list immediately.
Enter the full Australian number the way you would write it down: area code plus number, or the mobile number, with no spaces needed. For example 0288663000 or 0412345678.
You do not need to work out what form the caller ID arrives in. Carriers present the same number in different ways, sometimes as 0288663000 and sometimes as +61288663000, and it can differ between phone lines on the same site. The portal blocks every form of the number you enter, so the block fires either way.
If you blocked a number before August 2026, block it again.Older entries were saved in one form only, so a caller arriving in a different form could still get through even though the portal listed them as blocked. Nothing looked wrong, but the block was doing nothing.To repair an entry, click the pencil icon on its row and click save without changing anything. That rewrites the block in every form and takes effect straight away. Do this for each number in your list that was added before August 2026. Anything you have added since is already correct.

Editing or removing a blocked number

  • Click the pencil icon on any row to update the description.
  • Click the trash icon to remove the number from the block list. The number will be able to call in again immediately.

Frequently asked questions

Does blocking a number affect all extensions? Yes. A blocked number is rejected at the system level before it reaches any extension, queue, or voicemail on your site. Can I block a range of numbers? No. Numbers must be added one at a time and each must be an exact match. If you need to block a large range of numbers, log a support call with Pear. What does the caller hear when they’re blocked? The call is rejected. The caller will typically hear a busy tone or a “number unavailable” message depending on their carrier. Can I see a history of calls from a blocked number? Blocked calls may still appear in Call History depending on how early in the call flow the block is applied. Do blocked callers show up on my Abandoned Calls list? No. A blocked caller is rejected before the call connects, so they never reach a queue or a break message and never appear on the Abandoned Calls callback list. I blocked a number but they are still getting through. Why? The most likely reason is that the entry was added before August 2026 and was saved in one number form only. Click the pencil icon on that row and save it again, which rewrites the block in every form. If calls still come through after that, the caller may be presenting a different number each time, in which case log a support call with Pear.
